Privacy Policy for One Tap Phone

One Tap Phone is provided by Dennis Iversen, trading as 10kilobyte.com, referred to below as “we” or “the developer”.

Overview

One Tap Phone is a simplified Android telephone interface. It can act as the device’s default Phone app and, optionally, as its Home app.

One Tap Phone does not contain advertising, analytics, user accounts, or tracking technology. It does not transmit personal information to the developer or to third parties.

Information accessed by the app

Contacts

With the user’s permission, One Tap Phone accesses contacts stored on the device. This is used to let a caregiver select contacts for simple outgoing calls, optionally let the user search saved contacts on the Call page, and display the name of an incoming caller when the number matches a saved contact.

Contact information is processed only on the device. It is not uploaded, sold, shared, or used for advertising.

Phone calls and caller information

When selected as the default Phone app, One Tap Phone uses Android’s telephone services to display, answer, decline, and place calls. During a call, the app may access the caller’s telephone number, display name, and current call state so that it can show the call interface.

This information is used only to provide telephone functionality and is not transmitted to the developer or to third parties.

If the caregiver enables the Missed calls feature, the app stores the caller name and/or telephone number, latest call time, and missed-call count for the four most recent callers with unanswered incoming calls in the app’s private storage. Repeat calls from the same caller on the same day are grouped. The simplified screen displays only callers from the current day, records whether their calls have been viewed, and offers a Call back button when a telephone number is available. This information is processed and displayed only on the device. Answered and outgoing calls are not stored in this list.

If the caregiver enables the Contacts-only call-filtering feature and selects One Tap Phone as Android’s call-screening app, the app compares an identifiable incoming telephone number with contacts stored on the device. When no matching contact is found, the app instructs Android to block the call from ringing and send it silently to voicemail. Android retains the blocked call in the device’s system call log. Hidden, restricted, unavailable, and unsupported caller identities are not blocked by this feature. Contact matching and the filtering decision are processed only on the device and are not transmitted to the developer or to third parties.

Notifications

One Tap Phone uses notifications and full-screen call notifications to display incoming and ongoing call controls. Notification information is processed by Android on the device.

Configuration information

Selected contact names and telephone numbers, caregiver settings, and the hashed caregiver PIN are stored locally in the app’s private storage. The PIN is intended to prevent accidental settings changes and is not intended as high-security access control.

Data collection and sharing

One Tap Phone does not collect or transfer user data off the device and does not share user data with the developer or third parties.

Data retention and deletion

Configuration information and the optional missed-call history remain on the device until they are replaced, the app’s data is cleared in Android Settings, or the app is uninstalled. Clearing the app’s data or uninstalling the app deletes this locally stored information.

The developer does not retain a remote copy because One Tap Phone does not transmit this information.

Security

One Tap Phone stores its configuration in Android’s private application storage. The app does not operate a remote server and does not transmit contacts or call information over the Internet.

Children

One Tap Phone is intended to be configured by an adult caregiver. It is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if One Tap Phone’s functionality or data practices change. The effective date above will be updated when changes are made.
